Release Note: iTranslate Medical - Designed To Meet HIPAA Standards

There are a lot of unknowns in the world right now. But one thing is sure — iTranslate is here for you.

What is iTranslate Medical?

iTranslate Medical is a speech translation app specifically designed to meet HIPAA standards. It serves as a vital communication tool for any medical professional (like doctors, nurses, care personnel, and more). We've initially planned to release the app for later this year; however, due to the most recent events, our team worked hard to reach an earlier release date. We want to help to reduce the risk of possible infections of in-person translators, critical healthcare workers, and potentially infected patients by decreasing the number of people within the area of a potential infection.

At iTranslate, we are constantly looking for new ways to make our technology work for people, businesses, and communities at large. We hope that iTranslate Medical can serve as a valuable communication tool for medical workers and first responders on the front line of this pandemic. - Alexander Marktl, CEO of iTranslate

How does it work?

Users who are already familiar with the iTranslate apps will quite soon see the similarities to iTranslate Converse. The revolutionary speech translation app iTranslate Converse is known for its user-friendly interface, as well as its fast and accurate translation. So there couldn't have been a better role model for iTranslate Medical. To use the app, open iTranslate Medical, swipe up the screen, and choose between the most requested five languages and dialects: English, Spanish, French, German, and Chinese (Mandarin) – more languages already in the pipeline. Now select the desired language pair, and with the whole screen being the translation button, press and hold to speak. It automatically detects the correct language between two selected languages for a fast and accurate translation.

What about privacy?

Again, the iTranslate Medical app is designed to meet "The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act" (HIPAA) standards. We've integrated and used our very own Deep Neural Network models for speech recognition and translation to make the app work entirely offline. Meaning, the app functions completely on-device, requiring no WiFi or cellular connection. The use of Offline Modes has the advantage of eliminating the limitations of server-based processing and therefore increasing our user's privacy.

In other words: iTranslate Medical will neither store nor send any translation information to cloud services. Also, words and phrases will disappear from a user's screen in thirty seconds to maintain the privacy and security of conversations.
